Description
Combining both cross-stitch and blackwork gives Plus + Opposite I design a unique look. It is a simple but classic contemporary design which looks very effective. The design is based on the cross symbol which is significant for many people. This design needs to be done in a frame to help keep its shape. The design features cross-stitch and back-stitich using 2 strand and 1 strand.
This can be combined with the other Blackwork design in the Plus + Opposites II giving a gradual intensity for the three when hung on a wall together. If you purchase one kit and wish to then purchase the other chart please be in contact.

Blackwork Embroidery has been practiced for many centuries with methods changing as a result of the development of different materials and styles over this time. Today Blackwork remains heavily influenced by Moorish designs and now commonly uses threads in colours other than black. This is an example using geometric blackwork patterning
